Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am away on a business trip and it feels like I am passing a kidney stone. I say this because it has happened once before, about 7 years ago. Is there anything that can be done to soften the stone or ease the discomfort, until I get back home see my health care provider? I have an appointment to see him on Saturday.
Then management of kidney stones depend on the size and site of stones as cinformed by ultrasound. There are certain drugs that may cause ease to pass it out.
For the time being, I would advise you should use a lot of fluid to produce a good amount of urine as dehydration is the worst thing for your stone. You can use some anti spasmotic like buscopn.
If there is a pain you may use some painkiller along with heat application for the pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
